RELIEFレーベルで着実にリリースを続けているフェドセーエフのショスタコーヴィチ交響曲チクルスの第5弾は、ショスタコーヴィチ最大の問題作交響曲第13番「バービイ・ヤール」です。ユダヤ人虐殺問題を扱ったエフトゥシェンコの詩にもとづいて、バス独唱と合唱を含む5楽章の交響曲を1962年に作曲。独唱にはロシアの名バス、セルゲイ・アレクサーシキンをむかえ、壮絶な音圧と爆発寸前のフェドセーエフの狂演を体感できる。
