　モテット集 〜 北フランス、カンブレーのマニュスクリプトA410からの音楽

中世、ルネサンスの音楽の演奏家、研究者であり、民族音楽学者としてもその名を知られるビョルン・シュメルツァーが、1999年にベルギーのアントワープで創設した多国籍の古楽精鋭集団グランドラヴォア。13世紀の教会建築家であり、建築のための図画、絵画、彫刻、装飾を集めるために当時のヨーロッパ各地を旅したヴィラール・ド・オヌクールをテーマとした「ヴィラール・ド・オヌクール三部作」の第2部は、フランス北部カンブレーで発見された写本からの「モテット集」。吟遊詩人の活躍の場、フランドル楽派、ブルゴーニュ楽派の大作曲家たちの活躍の場、されにはギョーム・デュファイの研鑽の地とも伝わるカンブレー大聖堂。ヴィラール・ド・オヌクールの生地からも程近い同地で発見され、現在はカンブレーの市立図書館に保管されている写本から解き放たれる作曲者不詳のモテットの数々。グランドラヴォアの驚異的な歌唱力、アンサンブルが、ヴィラール・ド・オヌクールの足跡、実り豊かなカンブレーの音楽の歴史を解き明かしてゆく。

古楽大国ベルギーの音楽学者であり、民族音楽の権威としても高名なビョルン・シュメルツァーが率いる、アントワープの多国籍古楽精鋭集団グランドラヴォア。前作、ギョーム・ド・マショーの傑作「ノートルダム・ミサ（GCDP 32110）」でも大きな話題を呼んだシュメルツァー＆グランドラヴォアの新録音は、14世紀フランスの作曲家、ジャン・アネル（c.1380-c.1436）の音楽。カンブレー大聖堂の音楽家、ギョーム・デュファイの教師、キプロスのリュジニャン宮廷の学長などと務めたとされるジャン・アネル。「キプロス写本」と呼ばれるトリノ国立大学図書館の貴重な写本（Turin J.II.9）から発見された美しいモテットに、マロン派の聖歌、ビザンチン聖歌、プレインチャント（単旋律聖歌）を組み合わせ、シュメルツァーの時代考証と楽曲研究が作り上げた「キプロスの晩課（CypriotVespers）」。女声1名と男声8名で歌われるグランドラヴォアの完璧な歌唱はもちろん、地中海に浮かびながらヨーロッパ、フランスの文化が栄えたキプロスの知られざる貴重な晩課にも注目です。
