ヴァフタング・カヒーゼ(1959-) はグルジアの大指揮者ジャンスク・カヒーゼの息子で作曲家。父の跡目を継いで2002年からトビリシ交響楽団の指揮者も務めています。指揮を父に、作曲をデニーソフに学んだ本格派。1994年作の「ムーン・ダンシズ」は事実上チェロ協奏曲で、「ブルース」「ヴァルス」「スケルツォ」「ロンド」の4曲から成ります。ここではロシアの名手クニャーゼフが切れ味の良い技巧を示しています。またキリスト生誕2000年にスイス軍楽隊から委嘱された「クリスマス三部作」は、「栄光のアレルヤ」「悲歌」「生誕」から成り、男声と少年合唱が独特な味わいを醸します。
