ポリャンスキー＆ロシアン・スティトＳ０によるくグラズノフ＝交響曲シリーズ〉の第１弾。ロシア音楽に深い造詣を持つポリャンスヤーの既発売の作品はいずれも高い評価を得ており、現在のロシア音楽界におけるスーパースターである事は万人の認めるところである。 リムスキー＝コルサコフに師事し〓チャイコフスキーの次世代を担う作曲家として活躍したグラズノフはオペラ以外の様々なジャンルで優れた作品を書いているが特に管弦楽の分野における評価が高い。生涯の中で彼は交響曲を９曲作曲している（第９番は未完）。第２番は１８８６年の作でＦ‐リストの追悼曲として作曲され、１８８９年に“パリ世界博覧会”で初漬された。 世界初録音となる“賦冠式カンタータ”はロシア皇帝ニコラス２世が帝位を継承した１８９６年に委展作品として作曲し、同年の５月にモスクワのグラノヴィターヤ宮殿で初演された。全７楽章からなるこの作品はロシアン・フレバーが一杯に漂う作品でグラズノフ・ファン及ぴロシア音楽ファン必聴盤といえる。
